[ the sudden shine of light from pitch darkness is enough to have giyuu take a second to adjust but when he does, he'll slowly take in what they've found. or, at the very least, what is in front of him.
...what is in front of him??? is it safe to touch? are they unsavory things? ]
Good job, Dimitri.
[ now, where are they? aside from an obviously abandoned cabin in the woods. (hah) ]
[ the light doesn't immediately answer much—it looks like some sort of residential cabin? hard to say when the last time someone was here though, which is odd. he nods when Giyuu addresses him, though it's too early to say they've accomplished anything. ]
This cabin seems more furnished than our own... I wonder who it was built for.
[ since he's next-closest, he'll wander over to the kitchen and observe the condition of the appliances there, dagger quietly scraping free of its scabbard as he opens the cabinets. ]
It doesn't look like it's abandoned, so we may be trespassing.
[ They are absolutely trespassing, and it's rich of her to say that when she tried to kick the door down mere minutes ago, but if Shinobu cared about the law, she wouldn't have a sword. ]
There seems to be another room over here. I'm going to take a look.
[ She scoops up the cube before she moves to push (pull? IS IT A PUSH OR PULL DOOR) open that slightly ajar door. ]
[There is nothing unsavory on the table! Whew. Giyuu will find an empty bottle of some sort of drink, as well as some stray coloring and drawing supplies, a keyring with no keys, and a few sheets of paper with something doodled on them.
In the kitchen, the appliances have clearly seen some use. There are crumbs in the toaster oven, and drops of water lingering inside the sink. Dimitri can open the cabinets. The first cabinet he opens carries a set of chipped cups, plates and bowls. The next one has some... unusual pantry items. By which we mean someone herehas a reallyunbalanced diet.
Love that these ye oldes will not know what the fuck half of these things are.
Meanwhile, Shinobu will find herself pushing the door and walking right into a bathroom. It's a relatively small space, equipped with a shower, a toilet, a sink and a mirror. There's no cabinet. Like the dining room-slash-kitchen, it doesn't seem abandoned. Just a little dirty.]
[ a single good thing to happen clearly giyuu will pick up the drink and examine it because the only green thing he knows in terms of drinking is green tea but it isn't like—this kind of green. is it even safe to drink? should he even open the bottle?
likely not but he's going to hang onto it because dunno...maybe it's helpful. bottle stashed away into his sleeves, he's going to look at the doodles—anything particularly interesting on them? or will it be more garbage they won't understand. ]
If it isn't empty, then perhaps we can have some questions answered if someone shows up.
[ also hello dimitri, giyuu will eventually wander over his direction. ]
[ love this for them. dimitri takes a bag of Cool Ranch Doritos as evidence. that goes into his jacket. with how used everything is, it does make sense that maybe they can expect some company eventually. ]
Perhaps so, though I'm not sure they'd be pleased at us barging in like this.
[ he steps carefully through the kitchenette, giving it another once-over before checking the fridge? he'll wait to hear from shinobu before barging into the next room. quietly, thinking aloud, ]
Though there was music playing before... and the door opened on its own.
[The bottle is empty. Even if Giyuu wanted to drink it, he will find it impossible to do so on account that there's nothing inside. Enjoy the nifty green bottle, though! As for the doodle, they are all of the same vein. Unfortunately for Giyuu, while he will be able to understand what is on the bottom of the pages, the drawings themselves will be nigh incomprehensible to him. Not because they're crudely drawn, but because his mind simply cannot make sense of what he's looking at. His vision will blur the longer he looks at the doodles themselves, and he will start to feel dizzy and faint. Maybe it's a good idea to put those down.
In the kitchen, dimitri will find that the lower half of the refrigerator is filled with nothing but these. From top to bottom. Hm.
There is nothing in the shower or sink, but they do have a few drops of water in them. The sink works when Shinobu twists one of the knobs.]
[ he'll enjoy the green bottle??? it might jog someone else's mind instead of his, which is all rather nice until he comes up upon the drawing because wow!! that's lovely. he is going to make An Attempt at understanding what he's looking at but when he starts to feel dizzy and almost faint that's gonna be a no go and he'll peel his eyes away from it.
however, if you think just because there's a piece of paper that makes him lose his vision and guess his ability to stand, it would stop him from swiping them off the table then you'd be wrong. he'll look away from them as he folds it up and puts them also into his sleeves.
though this also means his "wandering" towards dimitri ends up being more like a wobble. it's fine? he'll make attempts to shake it off and walk it off. ]
It's not as though we wanted to be here ourselves—[ he starts, while holding his head for a moment as he waits for his vision to come back. ] The feeling can be mutual. We need answers.
[ good to know shinobu is always armed with those giyuu burns. dimitri hides a tiny smile, despite the weird atmosphere.
but speaking of giyuu, they can switch places, because dimitri will wander over to the table as well. he rifles over the contents, glancing at the remaining doodles but turning his attention to the keyring, comparing it to his own cabin key. ]
That's true... In that case, I wonder why they would be the only ones out here.
[There are no keys on the keyring, nor are there any charms attached like with the cabin keys. It's just a simple, lonely keyring. It doesn't seem brand new, however. While Dimitri checks that out, though, Shinobu will find that the closed door is locked. Now that she's close, however... The door emanates warmth, and there is a low humming noise coming from behind the door.]
[ his vision is still a bit wonky so he stops for another moment. ]
And it's nothing—just dizzy.
[ he says as he gives his head one more shake to clear out his vision. ...and the whole reason why he's over by the cabinets is so that he can take a single pop-tart and a bag of doritos for his sleeves (snack sleeves) before he joins shinobu at the, apparently, humming door.
nothing good comes from humming doors but this is all fine. ]
[ He frowns at that. Dizzy from what? He doesn't stare at the papers for long, folding and pocketing both sheets with the empty keyring. Couldn't hurt. Goddess forgive him for stealing, but desperate times.
Anyway, he joins door crew. It'd be nice if they could actually lockpick these things, but instead they're facing down the same predicament as before.
So... may as well start with the same tactic as before. He reaches out to knock, fingers resting against the wood for an extra moment to check how it feels. ]
If we have to kick this one down as well, we should at least be prepared to catch whoever does so, this time...
She doesn't kick just yet, waiting to see if the knock will actually do anything. Maybe they'll be lucky? Or maybe they'll be really unlucky because it does open and behind the door is death (and they die off schedule). ]
I am more worried about what's behind this one because for something to be that warm that it can be felt through the door... but I am lightest of you two.
[ So she'd be easiest to pull back, if they have to kick to open it. Still, she never sheathed her sword, and that humming is also worrisome. ]
[ don't worry about the dizziness. metatext told them why he's dizzy—at least he didn't faint.
but giyuu isn't too keen on the idea of shinobu to go flying into another room, especially a room that feels this hot. so, looks like it's giyuu who will try the next escalation by banging on the door with his fist while raising his voice to get the attention of anyone who might be inside.
if the humming is this loud on their end, it must be even louder on the other end, right? either way, he's banging on the door. ]
The door doesn't open when Giyuu bangs his fist against it, but music starts blaring from the other side. It will keep going faster and faster, playing on a loop until it's nothing but infinite chipmunk noises.
He'll give Shinobu a look, but he's not giving her the opportunity to move first this time, grabbing the doorframe to brace himself and give the door a solid kick. ]
this will only end one way and giyuu isn't about to see how things will go in that one way so maybe there's something else in the room (now that i'm not distracted by snacks for the snack sleeve). there's a smarter way, maybe? should be.
hopefully...
he thinks back to the keyring and...wanders back over towards the table where he last saw it. thanks for snatching the keyring though, dimitri?? as he will then look around (feel around) for anything that might seem different. anything that stands out? ]
[ ugh. he wishes he could just rip this door off its hinges. the noise grates his nerves, but he still notices Giyuu set off.
with Shinobu still having to free her sword, he supposes he should make himself useful too. he takes a quick look under the table, before just. pushing aside kitchen appliances? is there a key somewhere? hewwo? ]
Yeah, Shinobu is just trying to get her sword unstuck. She wants it back. She tugs and pulls and pushes her foot against the door for more leverage, etc.
PLEASE GIVE HER HER SWORD BACK. SHE KNOWS SHE WENT a little feral, BUT IT'S SPECIALLY MADE FOR HER. ): ]
