On Monday afternoon, regardless of where Beau and Wei Wuxian are, they will each soon find the large gray flemish giant at their feet, circling around them before zooming its way back to the directors' office. It will continue hounding each of them until they follow, leading them into the door marked 3D đ. As they each enter, they'll get the urge to check their travel guide, and upon opening it they will find new rules updated for their eyes and their eyes alone. Rules for Ghosts 2.) On certain weeks, however, the team leader may task the Ghosts with eliminating one person from the competition in addition to their normally assigned task. 3.) While assignments require that both Ghosts collaborate, that is not necessarily the case when eliminating a camper. While both must come to an agreement on who to eliminate, it is not necessary that both become involved in the act itself. It is up to the Ghosts' discretion to decide if they will act as accomplices to each other, or only send one of their own to carry out the task. After reviewing the rules, whichever of them arrives first will see Black Shadows seated at their desk. Were they there a moment ago...? Hm. Well. Their Director gives them a nod, gesturing for them to sit in one of the two chairs provided. "Please sit. Will begin when both are present. May ask questions then, for both to hear answers." |

Really, though-- He closes his eyes the second Black Shadows kneels, because if he doesn't, he's very certain with acute surety that he won't be able to control the reaction that follows. It's already a Herculean task to keep his expression tightly managed, the barest tremor of something appearing in it and flittering away again in a heartbeat when he hears that voice.
He breathes in. He has it under control. Breathes out. Opens his eyes.
And then he's setting his jar aside, rising from the chair and making his way over so he can stand in front. One, two more seconds. He crouches down, reaching out to rest a hand on his shoulder.]
Wen Ning ah, Wen Ning... You're always apologizing for this or that. Come, come - lift your head, let me have a look at you.
no subject
I truly didn't want to... have to ask this of you. Of either of you. Miss Beau, I... apologize that I couldn't introduce myself properly...
[she seems like a good person, to him. she doesn't deserve to have to do this-- and out of everyone here, wei wuxian doesn't deserve to have to kill again, he thinks.]
no subject
a beat, and then: ]
No, it's fine. You're fine. [ she's sort of speechless. ] Wait, but didn't you say you and the other directors have been here forever? Why can you tell us now?
no subject
Mind your wounds.
[THESE FOOLS ARE ALL THE SAME. He too is a fool in the same boat so it's fine for him to scold. In any case, he reaches out with both hands as soon as Wen Ning looks up, cupping his wee lil dead face.]
—Haha, I haven't made things easy for you, either. [He and Dick had been talking from Day One about how the NPCs were lying about this and that but he has so much DEMON TRAUMA that he couldn't help being a little shit, anyway.]
Is there anything else you can tell us now, on top of that? How the three of you ended up here? What this place really is?
no subject
[wwx cups his face, though, and a little of the tension seems to ease; all he's wanted was to be honest about this. to be able to tell them who he really was, rather than pretending to be some mysterious individual no one could really trust.]
We've... been here longer than all of you. That's true. But we were other places, first. I think that... Anaido has told you both about ours. We were brought here to oversee this.
I don't understand why I would be... [another headshake.] But I'm- trying. To help.
no subject
Wait, wait - so you're from Anaido's game? [ looks at flayn, looks at hands ] But you've been here a long time. Gods, the time distortion shit is fucking with me.
... You need to be careful, I don't want you to put yourself in danger because you want to help, man.
no subject
She's right, you know! We're expendable pieces here, but if you've been put into this kind of position of power, then you need to take the steps to ensure you stick around. Everyone will need your help - as much as you can offer, within the confines you can offer it.
[Assuming he's not DEMONS which he might be but Wei Wuxian is so fuckin tired he's just operating on rule of "assume the worst of everything so you aren't surprised when it all turns out horribly but opt to believe the best to stay sane(???)".]
--He's been talking about you since we met, so you know.
no subject
[he lets himself be pulled to his feet, the chains around his wrists and ankles clinking lightly as he does, but he's glancing intently between them.]
You aren't expendable. I... understand what this job asks of you, and that it risks... [he doesn't want to say it. his brow furrows heavily.] It risks losing you. But don't... think of yourselves that way.
[...the mention of anaido talking about him gets a shy little duck of his head, though.]
I--I'm going to try to speak with him too, but please... don't tell anyone who I am.
no subject
I'm not gonna tell anybody. [ a beat. ] He really does like you. A lot. I won't tell him, but you should know that.
[ as for the rest of it: ] So are there any other hidden rules we don't know about? Like Dick's whole "rocks fall, everyone dies" thing. Is that why we're here? To make sure that doesn't happen?
no subject
Anyway he's just skipping over that entire first part because! He disagrees! But he knows it's pointless to argue that with Wen Ning. In the eyes of the game, all of them are expendable. In his own eyes, he himself is. That's just how things are.]
I won't either, of course. [Of course!] That's something he'd want to hear from you for himself anyway, I'd think! --That said, are there others like us on the other two teams? If that's something you can discuss, anyway.
no subject
[he's just not going to talk about anaido anymore he looks So Embarrassed... but also a little happy, briefly, when he's mentioned. his bf talks about him and likes him... ah...
business. they have business. it's only a brief distraction.]
But no, I can't... speak for the other teams.
no subject
I don't even know what we could tell people in our letter, man. I don't think I know anything that everybody else doesn't, other than who you are.
no subject
[A little huff...]
Do you think it'd be too risky to let people know there's more to you three, if we don't give away your identity? Mm... [He's not sure he'd risk it anyway though, since as he pointed out earlier, the general opinion on those three is very uncharitable right now.
also before i, aki, forget again--]
--By the way, about that check. Will it let us know the ability of whoever we check in addition to their team? [A beat.] And can you tell us if certain locations have the same effect every week when you sleep there?
no subject
[that last question, he has to consider.]
It won't tell you their ability. And there's... at least one place where the effect has changed, between weeks. It's likely that they don't all... stay the same.
no subject
[The thots. He's talking about the thots.]
But good to know. [anyway cramming this all into one thread--] --Is Beau's ability lethal? And the cages - is there a guarantee whoever we trap stays trapped for those thirty minutes, or could someone break out through brute strength alone? [Then:] Do the effects kick in after someone falls asleep, or after the kill, do you know? And can we move other people that we don't intend to kill?
no subject
Beau's ability can be lethal, but isn't guaranteed to be. The cages... could be broken, but someone would have to work hard to get free...
[more thinking!]
You can move people, if you want to. And-- I think effects are decided when everyone falls asleep, not... later.
