On Monday afternoon, regardless of where Akira currently is, he will soon find a familiar blue infant mini lop at his feet, circling around him before zooming its way back to the directors' office. It will continue hounding him until he follows, leading him into the door marked 3B ❄️. As enters, he'll get the urge to check his travel guide and upon opening it he will find new rules updated for his eyes and his eyes alone. Rules for a Safety Counselor 1.) Every Monday, the Safety Counselor will choose one camper to protect in the event that someone makes an attempt on their life. 2.) Should this camper be targeted for murder, the Safety Counselor will be promptly notified so they may intercept the would-be-murderer. While it is up to the Safety Counselor to decide how to intervene, they must keep in mind that death is a part of the competition. After reviewing the rules, Akira will notice that Winter is seated at their desk. Were they always there...? Oh, well. They plop the bunny down on their lap and gesture at one of the two seats on the other side of the desk. "Hey, Safety Counselor. Let's talk."

You can choose not to intercept, too. It's not like you're taking the other person's place, exactly, but... [a pause.] Getting the chance to do something about it and doing nothing feels way worse, doesn't it?

[his mouth twitches, though the ensuing smile doesn't quite reach his eyes. Winter knows him well, that much he has to give them credit for]

[he breathes out. and, because he has to ask. . .]

Would I be allowed to intercept and incapacitate, instead of kill?

[he thinks he knows the answer, but he has to try]

I won't say that you can't try. [quietly, tracing circles on their desk with their index finger.] I think you know things have a way of going off-rails pretty quickly, though. Example: The last ten days.

Does Pinkie— that's their name now, until further notice— have any way to force people into killing if nobody decides to do so on their own?

...It's really just residuals, Akira. But what we said before still stands. No one is going to be possessed, or transformed into something they're not.

[mumbling. they're silent for a moment, and when they speak again, they voice is so, so very serious.]

If not for this crap, you would have returned to Tokyo with two people you really care about. That's a happy ending, right? The house lost. You freed the master and their daughters. Everyone went home, including the people who died. [...] What if none of that ever happened?

Are you asking me what would've happened if we hadn't reached our happy ending. . .?

Or are you asking what would've happened if I hadn't been kidnapped at all?

[they turn their head slight to face... a wall, probably.]

You asked what the winning team gets out of this. That's it. You're... competing for your happy endings. Not just yours, but those of the people you were stuck with. [a pause.] Think of it rewriting time. If our team wins, you can choose who to save from the mansion and go back home, like you were supposed to. But the losing teams... they lose everything.
