Yeah. There was this girl, Edelgard. Very smart and powerful lady but sometimes she just did not know when to back down and let other people talk, or when to let things go.
Definitely sounds familiar. On the ship, her position held no power over us but she did have a role that was meant to help us protect people. She, uh, inherited it from Escha.
...don't get me wrong. I respected Edelgard a lot back then. I still do. But there were times she would follow trails about things without thinking of the fact they weren't important to our case, and she would argue about its importance anyway.
[that's right - escha hadn't made it out of her game alive. flayn looks down, quietly grateful that so far, it seems that she will make it out of this one. if, uh, if all the dead thots can stay out of the graveyard, that'd be great, thanks.]
I suppose that is... one of the dangers of being someone that everyone listens to. If you wind up on the wrong track, everyone... ends up there right along with you. [...] That is no small burden.
Exactly. Remember what I said to you about people supporting otheres and how important they are? That's exactly why. An instance just like that. It's something I think about from time to time.
...well. It's more like Edelgard thought she knew better than the people advising her. She doxxed herself, and the other two who were a part of her role, and it got somebody killed. They could have brought someone back to life if that hadn't happened, but...it didn't work out that way.
She is a good leader. When I return home, I will be returning to her class - and someday, she will lead the Adrestian Empire. I look forward to seeing what sort of country it will become under her guidance.
I hope so, too. ...I am sure that it will. If we manage to overcome this, despite how... awful everything feels right now... then there is nothing we cannot achieve, is there not?
...yes. Thank you. [she's so tired, but. she can't help but think he and the other directors must be even more tired.] For reminding me, and... for everything the three of you have done to help us get this far.
We could all use the reminder, I think. [but there's a nod back.] We've been helping each other, haven't we? We're really only as good as those of us helping out.

[oh.]
...you sound almost like Ferdinand, when you describe her like that!

[head in hands.]
Edelgard... really? [she knows her princess can be impulsive, but. yikes!] She must have been furious with herself when she realized...
no subject
But she was. Edelgard's a good person that way, I think. At least from what I know of her.

Chin up, Flayn. We're almost there.
