but they're content to stay right here, seemingly more comfortable with this the longer they stay. eventually, they shift slightly, but don't let go.]

Always death in the world. In situation like this, even more so. All deserve to live, but some will die, or else all will.

Already not working together. Teams separated; only one can be left standing. Do not like situation either, but cannot be changed.
Do not want to see you lost. Do not want to see you hurt, either. But... understand that it will hurt either way.
