[the worst is that it's a really cute-ass kitten who meows cutely while rolling around with this dumbass toy. junpei's busy watching the cat, but he raises an eyebrow.]
I mean I get information from other places, but...
[her relationship with akira is both weird and reassuring - he's one of her primary sources of info sharing.]
Anyway, it was an item that he got from someone else. He showed it to me after he used it. We were trying to debate what question to ask, but he started to panic during trial so I told him... if he really wanted to use it - then he could. We'd take whatever happened, and share half.
[it's their thing.]
So he used it to ask who killed Yu - and I can't even be mad at him for it. It just so happened that the answer we got was someone who... was dead.
What the hell do I do now? All I got was that the week after Tsurumaru and Evan happened, Shinobu, a Winter Wizard member, killed Yu, a Purple Heart member. Can you tell me if she was assigned to do it? Is it a role? Does someone need to take her place now that she's gone?
Yeah, I know. I did this shit to Chuuya all the time too back on the ship. [...] Not...the Chuuya that's here. Older version of him.
[uggggh.] Okay, I can't, like, tell you anything. But you're smart. So why don't you lay out what you think is going on and see if you can fortify your own knowledge or see holes in it.
Mm... that's hard right now. I still don't have any leads on Hikage or any of the other murders from this past weekend.
Also, can I complain? What's the point of knowing a power exists if I can't mention it in trial and give a formal accusation? Is there a way around that? I know that Yin Yu wasn't involved this weekend, but if he was would people just have to take my word and believe me when I started building a theory that he could've done it?
[...but alright. he seems to consider that for a moment, tilting his head in thought as he listens to her complaints. a hand's moving so his kitten can attack his fingers and keep playing but he seems to be taking this seriously.]
...we've been playing this game so long I think...maybe there's some wiggle room there, too. You can't just doxx people out of nowhere, but I have been telling you to use your evidence to build your cases. Harder to do that when you can't openly talk about powers. It's just...before now, it was a rule in place to even the playing field. Now that things have been going for some time, I think you might be able to get away with it without a punishment.
[ . . . . . hmmmmmm. she looks thoughtful about that.]
Okay.
So I'm going to give you a hypothetical based on this most recent weekend - Yin Yu has the power to connect people, and Akira and Ash were talking about how there might need to be a linking power to affect me, Ash, and Kara all by the same curse. So if I had said 'there's a power to link people and I think that it was used to link the three of us, so we could end up causing chaos and derailing the trial' would that be fine?
It ended up not being true.... I didn't know that emotions were connected in his power to link, or else we probably would've noticed it sooner.
But... if I frame an accusation like that, it'd be okay? Otherwise... I don't know how I'd be able to use all the information I've gathered.
...yeah. Pretty sure that'd be fine. You're not pinpointing who it belongs to so that's good, and if it's an accusation about something relevant and you have evidence to back it up, like you, Ash and Ookurikara being completely disruptive, it balances out.
I would advise against naming names unless you're confident you have other evidence you can use to back it up. When I did a formal accusation against a demon wearing a friend's face, we had evidence pointing to him, and I also remembered some things he'd said to me in private. Those two things together, plus a role he had and confirmation of that role, were what helped us solidify a vote, I think.
[rip in hige.]
I know it's not the most helpful but...that should help some. Right?
Mm. It should - I just wanted to clarify after this past weekend and talking to Black Shadows during trial. If I can't even confirm a power exists, what's the point of knowing it.... but I know I can't bring it up carelessly.
My next question is - if there's a killer left alive, would they even be able to tell us that they killed? If we came up to them with a theory and an accusation... would they be able to confess? Or would it still be like Evan?
Right. Well...consider this permission for the upcoming week. I trust you to be wise with your words.
[but...he shrugs.] Difficult to say. It's all the more incentive to catch your killers but let me ask you something. Even if you caught them, what would you do next?
[and she does seem sincere about that. as for his question, she just. sighs.]
... talk to them. I want to know anything about why they do it. Is it because they're buying into the idea of this competition? Is it because of a role? Is it the influence of whatever pink entity there is here?
I haven't even seen Jadericho in forever either - how do they play into all this?
Akira and I are both looking for someone who can answer any of our questions... it's not some grand thing, or like we intend on seeking revenge necessarily. I guess it depends on the reason why everything's happening but we don't... know that.
Good. [likewise, he seems sincere about that. he'd rather not have something happen to her for speaking wrongly.]
Regardless of how convoluted everything seems, there's usually an answer for everything. [which isn't helpful.] Jadericho continues to be an entity you shouldn't focus too heavily on. It won't be a loss if you don't.
Did you get a chance to talk to Nie Huaisang before Sunday?
.... I didn't. He upset me - which I know is a stupid reason, but I think that I probably would've injured myself trying to smack him if I went to go talk to him.
But... I heard Taako did. And Nie Huaisang said something about being worried about - the competition? But he kept so many things to himself...
Nah. Stupid would have been forcing yourself to go anyway knowing it might not've been productive. But that's about what I figured. I think...no matter what side you're on with this whole thing, people are worried about the competition. They're either worried about winning, worried about their friends, or worried about finding a way out of this fucking game. When you think about it, everything is focused on the competition itself.
Not exactly what I said. I said that everything's focused around it. You're looking for a concrete goal, right? One of the best places to start with is finding patterns. Think of anything in the cases from this past weekend and the weekends prior that may overlap.
Shadows is right though. We're all in this game and the only way out is exactly what we've been saying. Only one team can win.
Do you mean besides the fact that someone from our team has died every week?
[but she'll just. sigh. ONLY ONE WAY OUT HUH.]
... okay. Then - I heard about the banner. And how it was a hint from someone who used an item. Three over three equals one? That's math? It's a riddle? What does that mean? That all three teams together can equal one team by the end?
[but the banner seems to draw his interest and he hums in response to show he's listening. As she speaks, he's busy playing with the kitten's tail while he mulls over her words.]
Yeah it's math but...I guess you could look at it that way even if I don't know how you'd get there. Usually you're supposed to show your work with math problems but I've got nothing.
Math is normally left for men to learn, but I tried to at least get some understanding of it.
I think... it can be that all three parts of three teams can be considered whole? Maybe? So if you say 'only one team' can win.... then it might be wishful thinking, to hope that there's a way to combine all three teams by the end.
The other thing that I was thinking of was... three remaining people spread across three teams - but I don't know how that works with the dead still being on their original teams.
You've got the basics down which is important, especially in a game like this. [you know, subtraction and all.]
...maybe it is wishful thinking, but I genuinely don't know. How could something that even happen when we're split the way we are? But anyway you're right. The dead are still on their original teams even if they're technically "out" of the competition. They'll be on those teams until this is over, too.

Where'd that come from?

that said to balance it out - she just. sighs.]
Akira.
It always comes from Akira, Junpei.
[they are both disasters but akira is the only person who exhausts lili more than herself]

So who told him that? [to soften the blow, he holds the stick of the cat toy out to lili. a kitten in these trying times?]
