You could always just punch us instead. Might be faster. [it's an airy sort of response, but a response nonetheless.] You don't think we want to tell you everything?
Well, I feel like you could probably stop me from killing you if you wanted to, right? That would be a messed up murder game if we could just kill the team leaders.
So you must have decided to let me get a punch in. And I respect that, at least.
Probably. It wouldn't be much use at all if you could. But...that's correct. It was fair and honestly a bit deserved, considering your circumstances. Don't count on it happening again though unless I've really earned it.
All right. Then I'll wait to try again unless you earn it.
[Grinning a little. He really does? Feel better?]
It's not like I expected the rules here would be fair and wouldn't apply in bullshit circumstances. It's funny - I kind of know where you three are coming from. We used to travel to different planets, and we'd have a year to find something called the Light, or once the year was up, the Hunger would come and devour the entire universe.
But the Light was pretty important and valuable on most planets we landed on. So, you know, we spent year after year trying to tell people they had to trust us and give us their most valuable possession for reasons no one was ever going to believe. After a while, most of the time, we just tried to take it without bothering with the explanations.
...are you telling me that you traveled everywhere to eventually steal a valuable resource to fight off this thing that would have destroyed every planet?
[are. are they interpreting this right? that will change what they say.]
...but that should have been enough to convince people, shouldn't it? [they say this without realizing they're proving magnus's point.] Where did the Hunger even come from?
Nah, 'cause they had no idea who we are and whether to trust us.
[That was the point. Anyway, shrugging.]
It came from another planet - some kind of cult or something? But it took on a life of its own and just started eating different planes of existence. It's still out there, too.
Lovely. Very exciting, something to look forward to when you return. [the driest of dry tones, shockingly.]
...I understand what you're saying Magnus. But you have to understand that we can't really do the things people want from us to earn their trust. It's...non-negotiable at this point, I think.
I'll spread the word around! Didn't really want to get too harsh at the other guys - seemed like it might actually hurt some feelings, and I don't like that.
Are those guys - what, your friends? How long have you been here?
Ah, precisely my point! I would hardly be much of a gentleman if I let harm come to them when I'm the PR representative. But I thank you for thinking of them.
...it's been quite a long time. Longer than we can really remember. Forever, really. Time becomes muddled after so much has passed.

Punching him.
He wasn't planning on it, but Purple said he could!]

Ow! [and there they go. wherever magnus is punching them, it lands a hit.] Can we move on now?
no subject
[Scratching his jaw.]
Actually, yeah, it's fine. Somehow, I like you a lot better now!

Every time the Hunger won, they'd get stronger.
