I think a lot of people would disagree with what you just said. [love yourself, sweet robo...] The people on the teams that lose, though... Well, they lose everything. This is really a "winner takes all" situation.

There simply must be some way to prevent such a thing. We were told on the island only a certain number would be allowed to leave but Master Dimitri was able to put a stop to the operator behind everything.

Given that you seem as much an unwilling participant as we are, then I'd presume that's whomever is making the broadcasts during execution days? Unlike the other broadcasts of unknown origin, that's the only one with a set voice, although I am unable to determine its source.
