Let's just call it a cheap thrill. I like having goals and accomplishing them. Likewise, I admire that in other people.

Are there other ways to gain or lose points for your team, or just the tasks?

There is a reason I chose you, Mr. Wright. [vaguely.] But no, it's just the tasks. Naturally the team with the most tasks completed at the end of the week wins prizes, and the team leader pulls ahead. Fairly simple, don't you think?

Picked your team, hmm? Was I your first choice or your last?

[ obviously, last. ]

Seems like the system's set up to reward us players for doing all three, though. Makes it a little more complicated to pull ahead.

You were a choice. [neither first nor last!] Not necessarily though. After all, you don't know who is on which team. We judge based on the team collective rather than if you complete all three tasks. Let's say that you, a purple, do a task with someone from blue team, someone from gray team, and someone from purple team. In this instance, while you're being rewarded for three tasks, purple team would also be rewarded for having more tasks completed. See?

So purple and purple means more points? Doesn't that apply to the other two teams as well?

Maybe later. It's a bit early to be playing favorites. [they nod in agreement then.] That's correct though. And this is why it's important for everyone to do as many tasks as possible.

Now it's my feelings that are hurt.

I'm sure that won't be an issue, as long as they stay harmless and relatively unembarassing.

My apologies, Mr. Wright. [though they don't seem very sorry.] Our tasks will always be harmless, though embarrassment levels may vary depending on how you see things. You'll still try, won't you?

I'm not sure my heart will ever recover....

Probably. Don't know if I have the energy to keep up with all this youth. [ shut up phoenix ]
