... But some of those skills could be used for serious aggression. Seems like it's not the best choice for a volatile group like this one.

I know. It's...complicated to explain, but it's what we could do. We aren't forcing anyone to use them.

It goes a little against your insistence that you didn't want anyone to get hurt.

Is it something you can't directly explain?

No. I still stand by the fact we don't want anyone to get hurt. It's part of why we provided the things we could.

But those abilities that could be used to hurt others... how could they help?

There are two sides to everything. Name an example and I'm sure I could find a way to see the good and the bad to it.

Sure, but if you didn't want anyone to get hurt, it's a little counterproductive to give them the capacity to do it.

You wanted to prepare us by giving us powers that could be used to attack or defend, correct?

I can't control how anyone uses their abilities, Phoenix. But I suppose I thought you would use it to determine some hidden truths.

Precisely! I believe that you're the type of person who knows how to look at what's presented to you and find threads to pull from and get new answers. Or, at least, the answers you've been seeking.
